Do you ever dream of becoming a very successful CEO of a company? Living the life as a millionaire or billionaire seems like paradise. We’ve all secretly wished millions of ringgit to magically appear in our bank accounts.

But for these two, they don’t need to wish or dream. They’re already living that life. It was recently reported that the two bosses of Capital A received more than RM14 million worth of salary last year compared to in 2020.

According to MalaysiaNow, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, the CEO and Executive Chairman of Capital A (formerly AirAsia Group) respectively, received an increased salary of more than RM14 million last year despite agreeing to not accept any salary during the pandemic in 2020.

How is this possible? Based on the report, the CEO of Capital A received a total of RM14,947,213 in addition to RM124,781 in allowances for meetings, travel and other matters. While the Executive Chairman received RM14,051,429.

Back in April 2020 when the pandemic was causing many businesses a lot of trouble especially for the airline business, both Tony and Kamarudin agreed to not receive a salary while AirAsia employees agreed to take a paycut up to 75% because of the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the corporation.

Back in January of this year, AirAsia Group changed its name or rebranded to Capital A as part of a plan to turn the company into an investment holding company with a portfolio of lifestyle and travel businesses rather than just an airline. The company still faced some challenges along the way last year in terms of net losses which you can refer here.

Despite the two bosses and the company’s current financial status, passengers are not entirely satisfied because apparently, they have yet to receive refunds for their cancelled flights from 2 years ago. Many have voiced their dissatisfactions and warned that they are ready to boycott the company if they do not receive their money back.
