The bad blood between Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris, and Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is nothing new among local football fans. If you recall, the rift between the duo first sparked after the former brought up the issue of salary arrears involving the Kedah Darul Aman (KDA FC) players.

The Johor Prince recently called the Menteri Besar (MB) of Kedah out over a statement he shared recently about a certain individual apparently “controlling” the Malaysian League. For context, the latter previously dished on someone who’s said to be a “control freak”, and would reward his football team with bonuses if they won over the Lang Merah squad. The local politician further claimed that he’s aware of all the things that happened.

The identity of the individual in question was not disclosed specifically by Sanusi, leaving everyone – including TMJ – curious. This has prompted the outspoken royal figure to issue his response on his official Twitter account, @HRHJohorII. He urged Sanusi, who’s also the president for the Kedah Football Association (KFA), to disclose and name the individual involved.

“Who is he talking about? Reveal the name. Even a McDonald’s clown can come out with this kind of statement. Provide all the details, bring out the evidence and the facts. Every time you sink, you keep making up sensational stories to increase your ratings. Typical politician,” the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) FC owner said in his Twitter post.

Last week on Friday (20th May), Muhammad Sanusi sparked controversy after he issued a statement on the Malaysian football scene. According to him, football is for all and not certain individuals. The 47-year-old political figure also stated that there should be no “deity” (tokong) to be worshipped in the sports industry.

Sanusi also claimed that all eyes are now focused on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) due to several rare occurrences that took place in the country’s football scene, among those incidents include the Southern Tigers team.
