Neighbours can make or break your quality of life at home. It’s unfortunate that this local netizen’s neighbour turned out to be an unrepentant thief!
According to TikToker @/ikuone, his parcels had been going missing after being delivered to his door. Well, he came up with a solution to discover what was happening to his parcels, and wasn’t too impressed when he discovered the culprit was his neighbour.
Earlier this month (6th September), TikToker @/ikuone took to the platform to vent his frustration after losing his packages three times in a row to a light-fingered passers-by. As such, he shared that he set up a CCTV circuit to watch his front door. To his utter indignancy, the CCTV did little to deter the thief.
Footage from the camera showed a man in a blue shirt purposefully walking by to snap up the parcel placed outside a grille door. Allegedly, the same man appeared almost half an hour later, this time without a shirt, to drop what had supposedly been in @/ikuone ‘s parcel onto his porch.
“Even with a CCTV installed, (he) still dares to take people’s parcels,” the TikToker complained in his caption. “(He) even opens the parcel. If (he) doesn’t want it, (he’ll) toss the item back.” @/ikuone shared that the incident had already been reported to the police, adding he was unsure if it was the same thief who had taken his first three parcels.
Netizens too noted that the thief seemed too used to stealing from him. “There’s no way he would simply take (the parcel) like that. (He) doesn’t look left or right,” one observed. “This is unfortunate. He (treats it) like his own property,” another stated. “Shameful,” another commented.
Thankfully, the apartment’s manager has allegedly helped him locate the person responsible for taking his parcel, by checking the elevator’s CCTV and tracing the person to their rented unit. Unfortunately, @/ikuone confirmed yesterday (24th September) in a comment that there has not been any action from the police, despite follow-up from the apartment’s manager.
While the CCTV didn’t work as a deterrent, at the very least, it did manage to catch the thief red-handed. We sincerely hope the TikToker’s thief issue will get sorted out soon and hope he hasn’t lost more packages in the meantime.
