Everyone likes a bit of eye candy, and it seems, badminton fans are no different. Recently, some fans were heard thirsting very audibly over Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) during the Hong Kong Open.
As some may know, currently, Malaysia’s national team is currently competing in the 2023 Hong Kong Open held in the Hong Kong Coliseum. Unsurprisingly, well-known independent shuttler Lee Zii Jia is there, representing Malaysia as well. However, what was surprising was the reaction Zii Jia got when he took off his shirt to change mid-game.
Yesterday (13th September), a netizen uploaded a video to Twitter, showcasing the thirsty fans at Lee Zii Jia’s match. Apparently, the audience had called Zii Jia to change his clothes and when he did, cheered: “Nice body shape, woohoo…” “I died. Hong Kong friends, please BEHAVE,” the netizen captioned in the video, adding laughing emojis.
The clip was apparently taken during the mid-game interval break. Zii Jia had been spotted chatting with his coach, likely analysing the game so far when someone from the crowd shouted: “Lee Zii Jia, change your clothes, change your clothes!” Although he gave no sign of listening to them, Zii Jia, after towelling himself off, did pull off his shirt to change.
As he yanked the shirt over his head, people in the stands could be heard cheering and shrieking loudly. The in-shape 25-year-old continued to towel himself off, inadvertently leaving his sculpted torso on display. Someone was even heard loudly commenting: “Nice body shape!”
Netizens were tickled pink by the fans’ reactions in the comments. “I hope our Hong Kong friends will have more days to look at Zii Jia changing clothes,” one cheekily said, with the original poster adding: “Everyday win, everyday fan service.” Another pointed out: “The problem is, they are all male voices.”
Well, Lee Zii Jia is certainly serving both looks and plays on the court! It’s definitely delighting his very thirsty fans in Hong Kong. In the meantime, we wish our national team well and hope to see them do their best in the Hong Kong Open.
