If there’s one horror film that we look forward to seeing in 2016, it’s the sequel to “The Conjuring”.
Titled “The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist”, the sequel will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returning to reprise their respective roles as real-life paranormal investigating couple Lorraine and Ed Warren.
The highly anticipated sequel was originally scheduled for release on 23rd October this year, but Warner Bros. abruptly pulled it from the schedule and set it for a 2016 release.
With James Wan returning to the director’s chair, it’s safe to assume that it will turn out slightly better than its spin-off film, “Annabelle“. Official plot details for the sequel are still kept under wraps, but it will take place in England as the title refers to a paranormal incident involving 2 young girls in Enfield, England, in the late 70s. The incident allegedly led to the demonic possession of 2 young girls.
In an interview with EW, Wan said:
The haunting that afflicted the Hodgson family is probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world.

“The Missing” star Frances O’Connor will be playing the mother of a girl who is experiencing the haunting. Other cast members include Abhi Sinha, Lauren Esposito, Franka Potente, Simon Delaney, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Patrick McAuley, Benjamin Haigh, and Madison Wolfe.
Production wrapped earlier this month and though the film is currently in post-production, the first official still has emerged online. It featured Wolfe as Janet, one of the 4 children in the Enfield family besieged by paranormal forces during the 1970s.

Wan is directing the sequel based on a screenplay he wrote with Chad and Carey Hayes. The script will be revised by David Leslie Johnson, who is also on board to pen the script for Wan’s upcoming superhero film “Aquaman“. Peter Safran will serve as producer alongside Wan and Rob Cowan.
“The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist” is slated for release on 10th June 2016.
