Or so the posters say, at least.
This week, new posters for “Transformers: Age of Extinction” started appearing everywhere. But instead of selling the robotic adventure film, the posters appeared as if they were anti-Transformer propaganda. It makes sense since it presents the film initial premise – that after the cataclysmic battle in 2011’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, all Transformers were seen as an existential menace to the planet. In fact, Michael Bay did state that “Transformers: Age of Extinction” will be in a very different world. The world where the inhabitants of Earth are united against any and all Transformers.
They even went as far as creating a separate microsite altogether to push the idea. Have you seen TransformersAreDangerous.com?
The “campaign”, in full effect, as seen in the series of posters and news clippings, evokes the kind of imagery and language that historically has been used in propaganda designed to intimidate undesirables or public service announcements (PSAs) meant to raise awareness of terrorist attack.
