Say it isn’t so! Alicia Amin has confirmed that she and her husband, Farzan Iqbal, have officially parted ways after two years of marriage.
The actress drew the public’s attention yesterday after she posted a video of her on her way to or from what appeared to be a courthouse on her Instagram. Dressed in a long black dress and hijab, she was also accompanied with a male friend who was seen shielding her with an umbrella. Alicia also used Joe Flizzow’s song “Janda Baek”, further piquing the interest of the netizens.
Speaking in an interview with Kosmo, the “Asia’s Next Top Model” alum said, “It’s true that we have divorced amicably. We went to the court together and he divorced me with ‘satu talaq’. “After living together as husband and wife for about two years, we got to know each other better. After our discussion, we decided that we were better off as friends, not as a married couple.”
The “Kuasa” star also revealed that there were cracks in their relationship from early on and in the end, it just wasn’t meant to be. “I still love Farzan and he’s a good man, but this is as far as we get,” Alicia told the publication. “I don’t want to talk bad about my ex-husband because that’s not my style.”
She did, however, mentioned their hectic schedules as one of the reasons for the break-up. According to the fashion model, “He’s always working late at the clinic, while I’m always travelling for work.” Alicia added that she spent a month in Bali before the divorce. “When I got back, I knew for certain that things were over. He has left the house and I pray only the best for him,” she concluded the chat.
Scrolling through the comments section on her IG, many fans were taken aback upon learning about Alicia’s divorce with her former flame. “I want to cry. I’ve always adored you and your ex so much 😭😭 Hope you can tell us what happened. You were so happy and close to each other,” one of Alicia’s fans online remarked. Another commenter chimed in, “Even attractive models (like Alicia) are divorced. Hmm, they are not meant for each other. God willing, she will find herself a better man.”
Alicia tied the knot with the doctor at the Saidina Umar Al-Khattab Mosque in Bukit Damansara in February 2021. We wish them both the best as the pair head in their separate journeys.
