Whenever you see popular celebrities out in public or at an event, you’d definitely notice that they will have their own personal bodyguard with them to keep them safe. In order to keep their employers safe, sometimes bodyguards have to take the blame and criticism for keeping fans at arm’s length from the celebs.
We actually hardly ever hear stories about celebrities from the bodyguards’ point of view. In most cases, they aren’t allowed to share any personal details about their employers but one bodyguard recently did an interview to share what it’s like working for actress Fazura and her husband Fattah Amin. Here’s what he had to say:
Originally contacted to address the rumours regarding Fazura’s luxurious watch that she wore during her husband’s birthday celebration, Shahaszrin Bin Mohd Sabiruddin or Shah also spoke to NONA about his experiences working for the two stars. It was understood that he was originally hired to be Fattah’s personal bodyguard before officially becoming the celebrity couple’s bodyguard in 2017.
In the interview, Shah first addressed the rumours about how he was hired to guard the luxurious watch Fazura was seen wearing, saying that the rumours were humorous but not true. In talking about the hardships he experienced on the job, the bodyguard revealed that he was once heavily criticised by netizens on his social media after a video of him stopping fans from swarming the 39-year-old actress went viral. “My main priority at that time was to keep Fazura safe from physical harm and to lessen the risk of virus infection, but of course, not everyone will understand the job I do. I’m fine as long as my boss is happy,” he said.
Thankfully it wasn’t all bad as the personal bodyguard shared happy moments of working for the two celebrity parents. According to him, one of the sweetest memories he has was when the singer spent thousands of ringgit to reward her employees. “Tears were definitely shed but not mine ’cause I had to maintain my macho front,” he joked. He added that he was grateful to his employers nevertheless.
The father-of-one also revealed that the celebrity couple was not only kind to him all these years but to everyone that has ever worked with or for them. “They always ask about my wife and daughter. Whenever they’d go shopping, they’ll ask me what should they buy for my family. It’s always embarrassing but now we’ve reached a point where they’d stop asking and just buy gifts for my family.”
Most people would be afraid to get to know their idols on a personal level as that they might not turn out to be how we believe them to be. But from stories shared by Shah, it’s good to know that both Fazura and Fattah Amin are kind and considerate people – both onscreen and offscreen.
