The Loaf Opens 9th Outlet At Paradigm Mall

by Lainey

In 2006, The Loaf opened its first outlet in the picturesque setting of Telaga Harbour, Langkawi Island. Holding strong to its philosophy of producing premium breads and pastries, The Loaf uses traditional Japanese techniques and the freshest of natural and chemical-free ingredients, both imported and locally produced.

One of the many baking techniques includes the complex “Levain” method (the French term for what we commonly call “sourdough“). In simpler terms, it’s basically the usage of a simple mixture of flour and water to capture wild yeast, build over a period of days to be strong enough to raise a loaf of bread.

It was this special technique that earned The Loaf its status as Malaysia’s premium bakery, one that’s like no other.

The Loaf’s Chef Fujitaka, the lead man in the Japanese-inspired bakery, bistro, and cafe’s hard work claims, “We want to offer our customers the concept of ‘More Than Fresh’ and with our freshly-baked breads, we can guarantee the best freshness and customer satisfaction. The Loaf offers premium products in that the ovens and many of the raw materials as these are superior product to those sold locally. Other necessary baking items are imported from Belgium, France, and Australia. While The Loaf is very much Japanese in its product range and cooking style, there is still a Malaysian feel to the product as it is considered important that this is expressed through some of the items being offered our guests.”

Clearly, it has come a long way since the opening of its first outlet six years ago.

As a matter of fact, The Loaf launched its ninth outlet yesterday at Paradigm Mall. The grand opening was officiated by owner and the man who has made the business his post-retirement past time,  YA Bhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad accompanied by his wife, YA Bhg Tun Dr Siti Hasmah:

At the launch, YA Bhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad joked, “I’m learning a lot about business – it’s slightly different from being Prime Minister. But still, watching The Loaf grow is very satisfactory, it’s very satisfying.”

Said to be the group’s second largest outlet after an outlet in Bangsar Village II, The Loaf Paradigm Mall (located at Level G) offers a bursting menu of not only the highest quality breads and pastries but also a variety of healthy and wholesome breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food menu is coupled with a refreshing host of beverages such as coffee, mocktails, juices, tea, and aerated drinks.

The Loaf’s recipes also includes local elements t showcase the diverse culture Malaysia has to offer, in an effort to make the delicious world-class breads and pastries accessible to more Malaysians.
