Fans gathered at GSC LaLaport BBCC on the evening of 5th September 2024 (Thursday) to celebrate the penultimate movie of versatile Indian actor Thalapathy Vijay. “The Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T)” recently held its Gala Screening event – and what a grand event it was!
The film, distributed by Fivestar Trading (FST), saw a good turnout of guests from different backgrounds with a special emphasis on inclusivity by featuring Malay subtitles to cater to Malaysia’s multicultural audience. The movie, directed by celebrated director Venkat Prabhu, is regarded as one of the most anticipated Bollywood blockbuster films of 2024.
As such, many fans of Vijay attended the Gala Screening to be among the first to catch the movie in Malaysia. The celebration kicked off with a vibrant array of activities, setting an atmosphere that resonated with the diverse crowd. We also saw some guests donning outfits inspired by Thalapathy Vijay’s movie characters, adding a unique touch to the event. The excitement was evident as the crowd of fans came together to celebrate this cinematic event.
The screening was graced by YB Datuk Seri Dr. M. Saravanan, Member of Parliament for Tapah and Deputy President of MIC, and Datuk T. Mohan, President of the Malaysian Indian Sports and Cultural Foundation and Former Senator. Other dignitaries on hand included well-known actor, Dato Sri G. His presence reflected the support FST has built over the years of being in the cinema distribution.
As the clock hit 8.30pm, signaling the start of the movie, the cinema halls at GSC LaLaport BBCC filled with eager anticipation. The film lived up to expectations, captivating the audience with its compelling narrative, powerful performances, and action sequences by Thalapathy Vijay. The audience, comprising a harmonious blend of Malaysia’s multiracial community, responded overwhelmingly to the movie, with feedback highlighting the film’s seamless integration of Malay subtitles, which enhanced the viewing experience for many.
The event served not only as a celebration of Tamil cinema but also as a testament to the power of film in uniting people from various cultural backgrounds. “This screening was a reflection of Malaysia’s diverse culture. Seeing people from all races come together to celebrate Thalapathy Vijay and enjoy this film was heartwarming,” said Dr Sai Suthan Krishnan, General Manager, Fivestar Trading. “The positive feedback we received on the movie, especially on the inclusion of Malay subtitles, shows that great cinema transcends language and cultural barriers,” he added.
As the night concluded, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, as guests left the venue not just entertained but also united in their shared love for cinema. The “Greatest of All Time” is set to continue its successful run in cinemas across Malaysia, and the Gala Screening at GSC Lalaport BBCC will undoubtedly be remembered as a milestone event in Malaysia.
