Viewers just can’t get enough of the world of superheroes. Watching a feel-good superhero movie often transports us into another reality – one where we always believe that there is more out there in the world.

Thanks to Marvel and DC franchises, this coming new year has ample movies that you should definitely not miss! Here are all superhero movies – in order of release – coming out this 2023;

1. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”

Release Date: 17th February

Marvel’s Ant-Man returns for its third release in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. This third instalment is finally releasing – after a long four years – in February, making it one of the first movies to release this 2023. According to Screen Rant, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is set to play a very important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as it is the first movie of Phase 5.

The plot centres on Ant-Man, the Wasp, and the other characters as they become trapped in the Quantum Realm. During this time, they see Kang the Conqueror, but it seems that Janet van Dyne is already familiar with him from her prior imprisonment there. Will they be able to escape?

2. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”

Release Date: 17th March

In March of 2023, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is officially set to come to theatres near you. Since the surprising inception of “Shazam” (2019), and “Black Adam” (2022), fans are going to be thrilled with this new sequel.

Not much is known about the plot of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, but fan theories suggest it will focus on six powerful gods with the names; Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Achilles, Zeus, and Mercury, as represented by the acronym Shazam.

3. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”

YouTube video

Release Date: 5th May

Marvel fans can once again get excited for the (supposedly) last mission of “The Guardians of the Galaxy”. Just like its predecessors, this third instalment has a simple title called “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” which will release on 5th May 2023. James Gunn has once again written and directed this sequel, which is releases precisely six years after the last time the team got a solo film.

It is no secret that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is the last movie for this iteration of the team. Marvel’s marketing for the movie has already hinted at the emotional storyline that will unfold. The actual story has not yet been confirmed, but it should still have the best cosmic adventures!

4. “Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse”

YouTube video

Release Date: 2nd June

Releasing right in the middle of the year, this upcoming Marvel movie is Sony’s animated sequel “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”. This sequel is a story that will once again send Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Peter B. Parker on a multiverse adventure but will predominantly take place in Gwen Stacy’s universe! Let’s hope some of the other Spider Mans, Spider Woman or even Spider Hams will appear in the movie too!

5. “The Flash Movie”

SOURCE: IMDB

Release Date: 23rd June

The Flash is a pretty well known superhero, even appeared once in the big screen in “Justice League”. Other than that, it’s all TV shows that had made fans more aware of the hero. This time, DC has planned to release “The Flash Movie” in June of 2023.

According to the teaser, “The Flash Movie” will reveals that the plot will centre around Barry attempting to alter the past in order to alter the future through Flashpoint, as well as introducing Supergirl and Barry’s father, Henry Allen.

5. “The Marvels”

YouTube video

Release Date: 28th July

“Captain Marvel” fans can rejoice as finally, after four long years, “The Marvels” is set to release in July of 2023. Fans will finally get another chance to witness a Carol Danvers adventure!

Marvel had clearly foreshadowed the events of “The Marvels” through the post-credits scene of “Ms. Marvel” episode 6 when (SPOILER ALERT) Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel switched places because of Kamala’s enigmatic bangle. In some way, Carol and Monica’s reunion will be made possible by their connection to Kamala.

6. “Blue Beetle”

SOURCE: COMICBOOK.COM

Release Date: 28th July

“Blue Beetle” is DC’s first Latin superhero to have their own feature film. Following the steps of “Black Panther”, almost the entire cast and crew is Latin as well!

The film follows the tale of Jaime Reyes, a Mexican-American boy who discovers a mechanical scarab that fuses with his spine, making an exoskeleton formidable suit. The ability is a crazy blessing, but how will he deal with the fact that the beetle has its own mind and ocassionally assumes control of the body?

7. “Kraven the Hunter”

SOURCE: IGN SEA

Release Date: 6th October

In October, the final Marvel movie of the year is releasing called “Kraven the Hunter”. Kraven joins Venom and Morbius as the third Spider-Man villains to receive a movie deal as a member of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

The plot of “Kraven the Hunter” is still largely unknown. Early in the film’s development, it was claimed that the film was a retelling of “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” a well-known comic book plot in which Kraven hunts down Spider-Man. But, there has so far been no confirmation that Spider-Man is in “Kraven the Hunter”, but let’s hope for the best.

8. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”

SOURCE: KOIMOI

Release Date: 25th December

Everyone knows who Aquaman is. It has been almost four years since the inception of the first “Aquaman” and it was a $1.14 billion international box office hit. Now, the sequel – “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” – is finally releasing making the film the last and most anticipated DC movies of 2023.

With almost a year until its release, there isn’t much information available online about the plot of the movie. But according to the basic plot of the film, in order to save his beloved Atlantis and the rest of the world from chaos and disaster, Arthur has no other way but to trust a dangerous ally.
