Whether you’re feeling nauseous, stressed, or suffering from a headache, you can always rely on VapoRub or a relaxation herbal inhaler to ease the discomfort. Aside from Vicks, Thailand’s Yadom brand Hong Thai is also a popular choice among Southeast Asians.
However, you may want to get rid of any products you recently purchased, as it was recently discovered that they contain harmful substances that could pose a risk to your health. Here’s what we know:

Yesterday (Tuesday, 28th October), the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a statement regarding the Thai Eagle Brand herbal inhalers, also known as Hong Thai, stating that the product had failed to meet safety standards. According to the announcement, investigations revealed that Formula 2 (Registration No. G 309/62) was contaminated with bacteria known as Clostridium spp.
Clostridium spp can infect the intestine, the gallbladder, and organs in the pelvis, such as the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. As a result, the FDA released the inspection findings to inform the public and advise consumers to exercise caution when purchasing the product. As scary as it may sound, the FDA also clarified that only the following products were found to be contaminated by the microorganisms:
- Registration No: G 309/62
- Production Batch: 000332
- Manufacturing Date: 9th December 2024
- Expiry Date: 8th December 2027

The announcement has since gone viral across the globe, with netizens, particularly those in Southeast Asia, checking the Hong Thai inhalers they currently have in their possession. Many expressed relief after confirming that their products were safe, while others were shocked and concerned to discover that theirs were from the contaminated batch.
If you are among the ones who have used the infected batch recently, please be sure to dispose of the product and get yourselves checked if you are experiencing any symptoms.
