Kudat MP Abdul Rahim Bakri has been heavily criticised for his unprofessionalism after he wrongly accused Sabahan Veveonah of faking an online examination.

Muar MP Syed Saddiq and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh are now condemning Rahim’s now-deleted post as a form of cyberbullying. Yeoh also questioned Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun’s silence over the matter.

If you don't recognise it – this is actually cyberbullying in action.
By two deputy ministers.
Against a young child.
Again, silence from Women Minister and her deputy.https://t.co/3GMRnxyIaf

“If you don’t recognise it – this is actually cyberbullying in action. By two deputy ministers. Against a young child. Again, silence from Women Minister and her deputy,” she wrote on Twitter today. Yeoh is among the latest to speak out against those criticising the Sabahan student.

However, she isn’t the only one to hold the deputy minister responsible. Syed Saddiq also called out Rahim for steering clear of the main issue, which is improving and expanding the internet coverage in Sabah. He also urged the public figures to leave Veveonah alone and stop being so condescending .

Cukup cukup lah membuli orang MUDA.

Dari membazirkan tenaga & masa untuk memperkecilkan saudari Vevonah,

Lebih baik untuk fokus meluaskan rangkaian internet di Sabah.

Don't mess with the Youths!

— Syed Saddiq (@SyedSaddiq) September 7, 2020

“Enough bullying the youths. Instead of wasting time and energy in belittling Veveonah, it’s better to focus on expanding the internet network in Sabah. Don’t mess with the youths!” said the former youth and sports minister in his post.

Veveonah gained a lot of attention when she posted a video on YouTube of her spending time up a tree in the jungle to get the best internet connection for her online examination. It also got the attention of Deputy Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin, who accused the Sabahan for being a YouTuber and faking her online exam for views and ‘clout’.

He later apologised to Veveonah and claimed that he had received “false information” on the matter. It’s not the same case with Rahim, who posted on Facebook last night, claiming that Veveonah now lives in a town and her family no longer had to reside in the village.

The Kudat MP also accused Veveonah of being an attention-seeker and deliberately creating drama. His post received a significant amount of negative backlash from netizens, asking him to delete the post.
