Sustainable Home Decor & Dining Ware: Only The Best From Thailand

Many countries have made their efforts to promote a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment but when Hype visited Thailand and took a look at what BCG had to offer, saying that we were impressed is an understatement.

In case you didn’t already know, the BCG model stands for: Bio economy, Circular economy and Green economy and was introduced by the Thai Government as a plan for national development and post-pandemic recovery.

The BCG model places emphasis on applying science, technology and innovation to turn Thailand’s comparative advantage in biological and cultural diversity – which is exactly what 7 of these Thai home decor and dining ware brands have done:

1. DEESAWAT

Deesawat has been promoting large-tree production and the value of materials for the past 50 years. They focus on retaining a taste of originality through the selection of little bits of wood which results in more elegant furnishings. Deesawat focuses on the green and eco approach – from upstream to downstream.

The wooden tables and partitions in this collection are made of natural teakwood, which reduces the need for conservation processing, as can be seen above from their T-T Table / Green Partition Collection. In order to create an artistic and sustainable workpiece, they choose wood pieces that are similar in size.

2. PASAYA

PASAYA is much more than just a luxury textile company; through eco-friendly manufacturing practices, they cater to changing lifestyles and international trends. For their manufacturing process, they use organic and environmentally friendly materials, such as recycled plastic bottles that are later transformed into fibres.

For instance, take a look at their URBAN RUG collection, which is shown above. Thick rugs are not as popular in Thailand due to its climate, however the URBAN RUG collection features carpets made from upcycled plastic waste bottles and cutting-edge weaving techniques. The patterns are exquisitely similar to those found in the work of an artist. The rugs are durable, easy to maintain and dust-free.

3. Thaniya

Natural candles made by Thaniya not only light up a space, but also illuminate a path towards a future that is more sustainable. They use recycled materials and eco-friendly ingredients in their packaging.

Their candles are made with jasmine rice extract to create Jasmine Soy Wax alongside a Thai pattern writing and traditional techniques to create their high quality products.

4. WASOO

WASOO creates natural wall decorations that are made using “rice straw” and discarded coffee grounds to create textured walls. It is not only an environmentally friendly device that helps reduce PM 2.5 dust, but it also assists producers and users in lowering carbon emissions.

Their CoffCube collection is also built completely of coffee shells, as can be seen from above. Since there is less need for air conditioning due to its heat resistance and ability to maintain a constant temperature, this contributes to energy savings. Despite being made of natural materials, the decorative sheet can keep egalitarians at bay. It also stops fires from spreading and inflicting structural damage.

5. Yay

Yay makes marble candles with motivational themes; their designs are distinctive and tell stories while yet being environmentally sustainable. Unbleached cotton and reusable stones are utilised to create the candlesticks.

Their Marble Candle collection, which is created from natural soy fat produced in Thailand, imported raw materials, and a cotton fibre wick, comes in an eye-catching style and recyclable glass box. They make non-toxic, chemical-free candles. Also, the stones inside the candles can be utilised as paperweights, as we already said.

6. Qualy

A popular home goods and packaging company, Qualy is focused on good vibes, creativity, and design. Their entire line of items was created with sustainability in mind. They also get donations of some of their supplies from patrons in exchange for discounts on subsequent purchases.

Their Foody 3.5/7Liters collection’s eco-friendly trash which is featured above is a waste separation made from waste materials. By separating recyclables from organic trash, it will help the environment by enabling more effective waste processing.

7. Bio Form

By 100% biodegradable design solutions for dining ware, Bio Form seeks to expand possibilities and value. These goods function just as well, if not better than other materials, and are not only toxic-free but also based on biomaterials.

In order to maintain temperatures for a longer period of time, their products feature a built-in air locking mechanism and a double wall heat protectant, which enables you to keep food fresh for over 24 hours outside the refrigerator.
