While social media is a great platform to share your thoughts and ideas, many have gotten in trouble for sharing their opinions online. Twitter user Hans recently shared a screenshot of an Instagram Stories post by a man named Malik Ridhwan to slam him for his opinion about parents.
In his post, Malik ranted about a parent he met at Suria KLCC during one weekend. The Instagram user wrote, “They’re so adamant about shoving in their twin stroller into a crowded lift and even asked others to exit the lift. You’re the one who can’t just carry your baby who can’t seem to live without the stupid twin stroller.” The Stories post ended with Malik writing, “Good lord, this kind of people are selfishly asking others to prioritise their stupidity.”

Understandably, the rant did not sit well with netizens, who felt that Malik was coming from a position of entitlement, showing a lack of concern for the hardships of a parent. Hans, who shared the screenshot, responded to Malik, saying, “If you’re not disabled, use the escalator. Don’t try to fight with parents with strollers. Priority of the lift is for disabled people, pregnant women and parents with strollers and babies. You’re the one who is selfish here.”
Many agreed with Hans’ opinion and condemned Malik for his insensitive comments. Many netizens said the rant shows how selfish and inconsiderate he is towards parents and those with disabilities. Some netizens who have disabilities complain that people like Malik are why they have a hard time visiting malls as they can’t enter lifts because of the crowd.
While it is unconfirmed, many say Malik is a journalist who previously worked at Astro Awani as a news anchor. As all his previously public social media accounts have been made private following the tweet, many believed this to be true. Netizens have also tagged the official Astro Awani Twitter account to get their response on the issue.

Malik Ridhwan has yet to apologise for his comments and Astro Awani hasn’t confirmed his identity as one of their news anchors. Let’s hope this issue will remind others to be careful of what they post online.
