What’s better than being able to enjoy a quick weekend getaway, away from all the noise and dullness of life’s conundrums?

A quick weekend getaway by car without having to fish for your passport or breaking your budget, that’s what!

As with any other holiday, aside from interesting places to see, things to do, and food to savour, a beautiful or unique accommodation is essential to complete the experience.

Thus, with help from our friends at Airbnb Malaysia, we’ve found 7 beautiful Airbnb accommodations for quick getaways in Malaysia. So unique, you won’t believe that these places even exist 😉

1. Selangor

Artists Creative Cooperative SS2 2

Owned by a group of art entrepreneurs, the Artists Creative Cooperative is located in the heart of Petaling Jaya – a bustling township called SS2. The accommodation is a shared space at second level of a house, and it provides basic sleeping pads with pillows and blankets. On the same level, there are 4 rooms – 3 of them share the same bathroom. Also, the owners have stressed on the minimal privacy since it’s an open space with a movable room partition. So if you’re not fussy, this spot is well-suited for you.

2. Kuala Lumpur

Classic Malay Home in Central KL 3

Who knew that there’d be such a beautiful classic Malay home located right smack in the Kuala Lumpur city centre? If you can’t get away from KL, then book yourself a weekend at this beautifully renovated home which embodies the concentrated essence of the Malay tradition, decorated with love. The owners will provide you with basic breakfast of cereal, milk, and toast at RM10/person – alternative breakfast menu will also be made available in your room with extra fees.

3. Pahang

Kampung house with retro decor Cameron Highlands

The house is called Wogoxette Upstairs and it’s a decades old family home built in the 70s, situated in Cameron Highlands. Previously, it was a home to a happy family of 7 for over 37 years but now that the children are leaving the nest, they decided to refurbish our house into a vacation home for avid travellers who’d love to experience “homestay living'” in a quaint kampung setting. Everything is designed by the homeowners, as they are passionate about art and design.

Price: RM179 per night

4. Penang

The 3rd Street Penang 2

If you are looking to experience Penang like a local, you need to be at the newly renovated heritage shophouse located at the heart of Georgetown. We absolutely love how chic and vibrant the interior is as it definitely put a smile on our faces! The 3rd street heritage shophouse is located in less than 5 minutes’ drive away from the Georgetown UNESCO site where there are interesting activities such as street mural painting, unique cafes, the clan jetty, little Indian town, temples, and lots more. As for food, well, we wouldn’t worry about that if we were you, since it’s Penang after all.

5. Malacca

The Stable is sublime sanctuary in the hub of Malacca’s historical precinct between Heeren street, once a narrow street fill with wealthy colonial residences and the famous Jonker street, which now houses antique dealers, museums, restaurants, galleries, cafes, and handicraft shop. Original wooden beams dances around and richly textured room of raw exposé bricks. The interior is a brilliant collision of modern to the baroque and to the local Peranakan heritage.

6. Johor Bahru

At Eco B & B, life is about striking a balance i.e. travellers can enjoy little luxuries and be eco-minded at the same time. In fact, 90% of their furniture is handmade, using locally sourced wooden pallets and other natural materials like banana fibre and recycled wood from a local stable. But the clean and bright accommodation’s show stealer is perhaps their interesting, picture-worthy beds. Cool Attic Loft @ ArtDeco Ipoh Old Town

The Gold Swiftlet room is loft room with original timber flooring is furnished with teak furniture and Marseille glass skylights. Inspired by a resident bird from the Perak aviary base, the room is part of a restored building now called Sarang Paloh Heritage Stay, the result of a heritage restoration project in the heart of Ipoh Old Town. The accommodation comfortably fits 2 and it is strategically located in Ipoh Old Town, where all the famous eateries are! Just don’t forget to check out the street art in Ipoh while you’re there.
