If you’re familiar with South Korean queer figures, you might know of singer and actress Harisu (하리수). The transgender star is best known for her R&B-techno albums and appearances in many dramas and movies, including the Malaysian film, “Possessed”. Despite her commercial success in the early 2000s, Harisu has since moved on to being active on social media.
The media personality, whose real name is Lee Kyung-Eun (이경은), recently shared a few photos of her before she began a live broadcast from her home. In the pictures, Harisu wore a pink shirt and her hair was styled in pigtails, giving her a youthful look. The 49-year-old’s appearance received many comments, mostly from fans who showered her with praise.

However, the photos also received some negative press as many netizens noted how drastically different Harisu looks compared to her old self. Some argued that she looked unrecognisable because of her plastic surgeries and even said she looked more like a typical influencer than the Harisu most South Koreans would be familiar with. Sure enough, photo comparisons of the singer’s past and present appearance show little similarities.
It’s worth noting that Harisu is no stranger to talking about her cosmetic procedures since the start of her career. As one of the first South Koreans to legally change their gender, the 49-year-old has gotten breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and surgery to increase the size of her hips to appear more feminine following her sex reassignment surgery. However, it’s unclear whether she has addressed the sudden changes in her appearance.

Despite the comments on her looks, Harisu remains busy with her work because besides live streaming from her YouTube, she’s also working on her pet care brand, Neuvo Perro. What are your thoughts on Harisu’s current appearance?
