Johnnie Walker®, the World’s No.1 Scotch whisky, celebrated the launch of the Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ Limited Edition bottle at the “MAKE IT GOLD” party in Velvet Underground, Zouk Club KL last Friday. The first Johnnie Walker® Limited Edition bottle of its kind features a metallized gold glossy finish, resulting in a vibrant and exciting look that solidifies the status of Gold Label Reserve® as the celebration blend for all life’s golden moments. The glamorous party was hosted by the vivacious and stylish Fay Hokulani.
Guests were immersed in a world of golden splendor at Velvet Underground, a clubbing icon of KL suddenly embellished completely in gold decor and displays of the ubiquitous Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ Limited Edition bottle.
The mainstay of Johnnie Walker® events, exquisite whisky cocktails; such as crowd favourite, “Fresh Gold”, “Johnnie Gold Fashioned” and the newest addition, the mysterious “Gold Bullion” were specially crafted by mixologist Josh Ivanovic at the Johnnie Walker® Mixology room within the Velvet Underground pre-lounge.
Velvet Underground’s resident DJ Ken jump started the night with his unique brand of open format music, before New Yorker DJ Mel DeBarge took to the stage and brought his high energy remixes of hip hop, funk and soul to amp up the atmosphere. The night progressed with the grand unveiling of the Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ Limited Edition bottle, with the highlight of the coming when host Fay Hokulani announced the winner of the coveted RM 25,000 gold bar, specially custom embossed with the iconic Johnnie Walker® striding man by Poh Kong™, Malaysia’s premier jewelers. One of Zouk’s regular members, Mr. Ting Ho Yin (Owen) emerged victorious out of the capped 20 contestants and received the distinctive prize from Senior Brand Manager of Johnnie Walker® Malaysia, Charles James Wright.
The rich and smooth taste of the Gold Label Reserve™ is the definition of liquid indulgence. At its heart lies CLYNELISH™, a Highland malt distilled with water from the Kildonan hills where rich gold deposits were found in the early 19th century and blended with specially hand-selected casks of whiskies from the Johnnie Walker® Master Blender’s private reserve.
The Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ Limited Edition bottle will be available at participating outlets nationwide from late May while stocks last. Consumers can specially order a take-home Limited Edition bottle in a gold gift bag at Zouk and other limited outlets nationwide.
