No matter how long a K-pop idol group has been in the industry, news of a disbandment still comes as a shock to fans. While this is latest announcement is not a disbandment, the news is still just as devastating.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 25th November), K-pop boy group SKYE (스카이) announced via their social media pages that they will be halting all activities and will hold a final performance before beginning their break. Here’s what they said:

SKYE is a six-member South Korean boy band formed through the survival show Boys24. The group debuted in 2017 as IN2IT with their first single, “AMAZING”, under MMO Entertainment. In 2020, they went independent after establishing their own agency, First Entertainment, and subsequently rebranded as SKYE in 2023.
In an official statement, the members expressed their gratitude to fans who have supported them over the years. “After thorough discussions and careful consideration, we have decided to halt SKYE’s official activities. This decision is not simply a temporary break, but one that reflects the members’ deep reflections on their individual lives and future directions,” they wrote.

Their year-end fan meeting, which will be held on 28th December, will be the last public appearance and performance as a group. One of the members is Malaysia’s very own Isaac Voo, widely recognised as the first Malaysian K-pop idol, a title he held before his hoobae, Ling Ling of KIIRAS, followed in his footsteps. He took to Instagram to thank fans for staying with him throughout his K-pop idol journey.
“Thank you to everyone who stayed, supported, and believed in me from the start. Your love means more than you know, especially when certain things were no longer in my control. I’ll keep moving forward… even if this wasn’t the ending I wanted,” he said, adding that he promises to continue pursuing his dreams.
It’s clear that fans are devastated by the news, and it remains unknown whether the members will pursue solo careers or when they might return as a group. Regardless, we wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavours and hope they come back stronger than ever.
