Malaysian singer Ashira Aziz left the internet in a state of shock after she announced her retirement earlier this week. She recently announced her plans to step down from showbiz via a series of posts on IG Story.
In her post, the 38-year-old described her 2-decade career in the entertainment scene as nothing short of remarkable and exceptional. She also urged the public to respect her decision and allow her to carry on with her life outside of the spotlight.
“1999 – 2022. It’s been one hell of a journey and life experience. I will keep all the memories deep inside my heart. Time to close the book from now and for good,” the “Di Ombak Resah” singer wrote. “Please respect my decision. Let me live my life with my son and my family without any eyes and attention.”
Ashira added, “Feel free to unfollow or unfriend me on socials. Goodbye, world. Ashira Aziz signing off as a Public Figure. Adios Amigos.” At the same time, the singer also pleaded with all her fans to give her some space. “I’m doing okay. It is what it is. Thank you everyone,” she shared.
Not long after the news came to light, the “Gegar Vaganza 7” alum was also approached by the media to address the matter. In talking with mStar, she clarified that she won’t be conducting any interviews with the media moving forward. “This will be my last (interview), okay? Please don’t write anything about me after this,” Ashira told the local portal. “Thanks for all the support. I’m sorry.”
Needless to say, these past years have been a rollercoaster ride for Ashira, and this includes her personal life. The retired star was previously married to fellow “GV7” alum, Bad Indigo back in March 2021. Their marriage didn’t last long, as they officially parted ways in June 2022.
