ShopeePay has announced the launch of Zurich Wallet Protection, an affordable digital insurance solution underwritten by Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad (Zurich). Available directly on the ShopeePay and Shopee apps, the protection plan is designed to help Malaysians safeguard their money against a growing range of online financial scams.
Priced from just RM1.40 per month, Zurich Wallet Protection goes beyond ShopeePay transactions. Coverage extends across all bank accounts, e-wallets, and card payments, protecting users from risks such as unauthorised transfers, phishing scams, impersonation fraud, card misuse, and online shopping fraud.
Addressing a Growing Digital Threat
The launch comes amid a sharp rise in online scams nationwide. According to the Royal Malaysia Police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department, 47,854 scam cases were recorded as of September 2025, resulting in RM1.92 billion in losses, an increase of 12,486 cases compared to 2024. In line with ShopeePay’s mission of “Simple Finance, Made For You,” the initiative aims to make essential digital protection affordable and accessible to Malaysians.
“Online frauds are becoming increasingly sophisticated as scammers continue to adapt and find new ways to deceive the public. While we actively educate our users on staying safe online, it’s equally important to offer a final layer of protection that is affordable and easy to access. Anyone can fall victim to fraud, and often, it’s only realised when it’s too late,” said Alain Yee, Chief Executive Officer of ShopeePay Malaysia.
