Many livestream hosts are willing to use their free time to stream to get more sales. However, this Shopee livestream host decided to go live while driving, landing her in big trouble.
The incident was reported by a viewer of the Shopee livestream, who shared the story with Singaporean media outlet Stomp. According to the viewer, the incident happened a few days ago when the livestream host, Agnes Boo, was broadcasting live from her car while driving on the road. Agnes, a Shopee affiliate, regularly does live streams to promote products and brands on Shopee.

As Agnes went live, many viewers, including the Stomp contributor, slammed her for driving while she was on her phone. Many called her irresponsible, lamenting that driving while occupied on her phone can lead to a traffic accident. However, others say to let her continue driving, saying she will learn her lesson when she crashes into another car or gets caught by the traffic police.
Following the incident, the Stomp contributor took to Shopee to express her disappointment over Agnes’ actions. The anonymous user contacted the online shopping mall to notify them about the Shopee affiliate, adding, “All it takes is just one second. She takes her eyes off the road just to read the comments and a life will be taken by her carelessness.”
A spokesperson from Shopee responded to the messages, saying they have taken disciplinary action towards Agnes regarding the incident. They added that their livestream partners are required to comply with local laws and safety regulations, including not using the phone while driving. Agnes has also apologised for her actions in a comment to Stomp, saying, “I humbly apologise for my lapse in judgement and (I) accept the disciplinary action.”

Agness also mentioned that she will take extra caution to ensure she complies with the law and safety regulations in the future. Hopefully, Agnes’ experience will remind other livestreamers to be careful.
