Shopee Apologises After Delivery Guy Throws Items Into Customer’s Home

On the 19th of August, a Shopee delivery personnel was caught on CCTV camera throwing packages into a customer’s home.

The customer who had ordered three packages from the online e-commerce platform posted a video on Facebook showing how the packages were being thrown into his porch by a delivery personnel wearing a Shopee t-shirt.

The customer claimed that he did not even receive any calls prior to the delivery being completed and had been wondering why his items were always damaged.

The video was captioned as “Shopee express delivery … Memang express… No wonder my purchases recently always damaged. Never bother to call me before throwing my stuff inside. Wtf!”

Following this public complaint by the customer, Shopee’s Regional Managing Director, Ian Ho, claimed that he has apologised to the customer and issued a statement on the matter:

“Shopee immediately reached out to the customer and delivery personnel when the video was first posted on Facebook to conduct a thorough investigation on what transpired.

While the delivery personnel involved already offered a personal apology to the customer, his behaviour went against what Shopee expects of our employees and the quality of service we commit to uphold. Upon completion of the internal inquiry, Shopee has found that there was no excuse for the misbehaviour and will thus be taking stringent actions against the employee.

At this juncture, we thank the customer for alerting us on the matter. Should other customers encounter unsatisfactory service, we encourage them to reach out to us at help@support.shopee.com.my or call 03 2777 9222 (Monday to Sunday – 9.00am to 6.00pm, including Public Holidays).”

It seems that Shopee’s delivery personnel wanted to incorporate some fast and furious delivery tactics to his services. However, since customers pay hard-earned money for these items, it goes without saying that these items should be received in pristine condition.
