While AOA Seolhyun and Block B Zico’s relationship was short-lived, it was constantly under public scrutiny.
In a personal interview with South Korean media outlet Sports Seoul yesterday (Thursday, 20th October), the female idol stripped back her idol facade and revealed her true feelings about her past relationship with the rapper.
Seolhyun admitted that she was shocked and scared that so many people were paying attention to her when the news broke out. However, she did not expect it to blow up into an issue of such proportions, and admits that it’s normal to have flings at that age.
She said:
“Honestly I was surprised. I was surprised that there was news about me, and that people were so interested. It was fascinating, but it was also scary. The fact that the news was revealed at no will of my own was surprising.
Even though I was shaken after the news first broke out, I don’t think the incident will be too impactful on my life. Because I did nothing wrong. People meet, and part ways…Anyone goes through relationships and breakups. I just think I experienced something as ordinary.”
The idol was also grateful for the existence of her members and the people around her, as they were extremely supportive. “The members worried about me a lot. It was encouraging just for them to spend time with me. Even if you’re not doing anything in particular, the thought of someone who thinks of me with sincerity and who wants to comfort me gives me strength. When I’m having a hard time, I acknowledge that and let the people around me know what’s going on. It’s not that it’s easy, but I let my emotions run their course and quickly brush them off. I don’t have a particular method of overcoming things; when time passes, everything gets better,” she revealed.
It’s also inevitable for the singer-cum-actress to feel worried and uneasy about her promotions and activities after her “dating scandal”, but she admits that she doesn’t think “it’s the end”. “My life isn’t over,” exclaims Seolhyun.
Being optimistic about her life, she continues, “Later, when I look back on this year, it’s not to the point where I would think ‘That was a really hard time.’ Going through a lot of things, I’ve become stronger and I don’t think it’ll be hard. Now I have the strength to handle these things. When I achieve a goal, I immediately start working toward the next. Right now my goal is for today to be better than yesterday, for tomorrow to be better than today, to not repeat my mistakes from yesterday.“
