Sabaton has always been the kind of band that turns history class into a full-on blockbuster, and their new single “A Tiger Among Dragons” keeps that streak alive. Dramatic like a historical K-drama with guitars, the track from their “Legends” album tells the story of Lü Bu, the ancient warrior who lived like an action hero before Hollywood.
Sabaton delivers an epic take on Lü Bu, the warrior known for his legendary horse Red Hare, his skill with a halberd, and his fearless battles. Joakim Brodén says the song is powerful and emotional, while Pär Sundström notes that the track’s thundering percussion made an Asian legend the perfect fit.
A Whole Album Of Drama, Lore & Legends

If Lü Bu already sounds like a full Netflix saga waiting to happen, “Legends” pushes things even further. Sabaton basically gathered history’s most iconic troublemakers and turned them into a metal anthology. We’re talking Jeanne d’Arc, Genghis Khan, Miyamoto Musashi, Hannibal, Vlad the Impaler, Julius Caesar, and even the Knights Templar.
It’s a mix of battles, strategy, and pure drama wrapped in Sabaton’s signature big, cinematic sound. Think history textbook energy, but remixed into something loud enough to fill a stadium. And fans are eating it up. “Legends” is already topping multiple Luminate U.S. charts, including Metal Album, Rock Album, and Current Hard Albums. Sabaton’s die-hard fans clearly showed up.
The Music Video Is Pure Visual Chaos

Sabaton didn’t just drop a music video—they went full blockbuster mode. Shot in Belgrade with layers of CGI, dramatic lighting, and armour that looks straight out of a fantasy epic, the band shows up as a warrior crew ready to rally an ancient Chinese army, complete with two sorceresses who casually summon guitars out of thin air.
They even commissioned custom-made armour inspired by actual historical designs but tweaked so they could still shred onstage. The whole thing has such big, over-the-top energy that you half expect a dragon to appear. Sabaton themselves said they wanted the video to be “completely over the top,” and honestly, they nailed it.
The Tour: Where The Lore Goes Live

Sabaton is currently in the middle of a massive world tour, jumping across Europe, the U.S., and Canada—with shows booked into 2026. So if you’re planning a trip and want your holiday soundtrack to include explosions, history lessons, and Joakim’s iconic sunglasses, this might be your sign.
Stream “A Tiger Among Dragons,” watch the video, and if you find yourself googling “Who exactly was Lü Bu?” afterwards… well, Sabaton would consider that a win.
