Russell Brand and Katy Perry started dating in September 2009 and became engaged on New Year’s Eve while vacationing in India. They got married in October 2010 but unfortunately, they filed for divorce 14 months later due to “conflicting career schedules”.
During an interview with UKTV, which was aired on “John Bishop: In Conversation With” on Monday (3rd April), the British comedian opened up about his short-lived marriage to the “Chained To The Rhythm” songstress.
He explained, “I still feel very warm towards her. I feel like when I hear about her or see her, ‘Aw there’s that person. There’s that person in the world.’”
“In the end, there is kind of an intimacy that it’s just the two of us in this thing, and I suppose we intuitively or perhaps explicitly understood that we better protect this thing. Obviously, the marriage didn’t last for a very long time, and I think that is to do with the undulating nature of fame,” he continued.
Besides that, the 41-year-old entertainer, who recently welcomed daughter Mabel Brand last November, talked about fatherhood. “The thing that has been the most spectacular thing in my life has been the most ordinary thing in my life,” he said.
“In one way it makes me feel insular — ‘I’m just gonna look after this kid’ — and in another way it makes me feel, ‘Well, you can’t do that.’ The resource of love you have inside you is limitless, and everybody is worthy of love,” he added.
Brand is currently engaged to 28-year-old Laura Gallacher, who is the mother of Mabel. Meanwhile, Perry ended her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom last month.
