There’s a lot of pressure for Robert Pattinson heading into production for “The Batman” and one of that includes getting into shape.
During the press tour for his new film, “The Lighthouse”, the 33-year-old actor was asked if he had already began working out a lot to get into superhero shape for his role as Bruce Wayne.

“I’m in the early stages,” Pattinson laughed. “Very, very early.” When the female reporter brought up the fact that he wasn’t very fond of exercising, the Brit replied, “I didn’t when I was younger, but now as I have kind of gotten older, I’m slowly getting aware of ageing. So I’m kind of like, ‘I got to put in some effort otherwise I’m going to get hip replacement’.”
In another interview, the A-lister also shared how exercising is now appealing to him in his 30s. “I used to hate working out. In my 30s, I find it very meditative. It’s weird,” he said. “When you feel like someone’s not forcing it on you, and you’re doing it for yourself, it’s a very different experience… I’m weirdly looking forward to it.”
He then added, “The dieting too. I’m an extremist. I’ll eat nothing but pizzas for months so by the time I have to diet my body is like, ‘Thank god. Please only healthy stuff from now.’ … I’ve been bulking.”
Many “Twilight” fans would remember Pattinson’s role as the vampire Edward Cullen in the sage. When shooting takes place, it’ll be approximately a decade since he had to work out in the same sort of capacity. Needless to say, “The Batman” will be more physically-demanding than the “Twilight” series.
Cosmic Book News alleged that the trainer responsible for getting Zachary Levi into shape for “Shazam!” is being considered to train Pattinson for “The Batman”. The English star has already teased that the new Batsuit is “very,very cool”, so we can’t wait to see him kicking butt as the new Dark Knight.
When asked about the iconic Batman voice, Pattinson cite co-star Willem Dafoe in “The Lighthouse” as an inspiration. “It is pretty similar, the voice I’m gonna do, to Willem’s.” He couldn’t have pick a better source of inspiration than Dafoe’s growl.

In talking to BBC, the handsome star also revealed that he’s not approaching this DC superhero like other characters from the small independent films he’s done. “Now that I’m starting to get into it, I don’t want to approach it as kind of a big studio thing where all you’re really doing is thinking about your trailer. I want to approach it in exactly the same way, I want it to be frightening, I want it to be something you lose yourself in,” he said.
Pattinson continued, “I think it’s more difficult to do, because it’s such a familiar character to lots of people, but I think there’s something, I don’t know. If you can find a place, a way to lose yourself in it, then I think it’s really exciting.”
Warner Bros has set 25th June 2021 as the release date for “The Batman”.
