It’s no secret that Malaysia might be the land of new development, as our country’s political stance with foreign investors booms with every diplomatic visit. With Malaysia being one of the top destinations for luxury home buyers in China, where does this put us with mega corporations looking to develop in the country?

Gamuda Bhd, one of Malaysia’s largest engineering, property and infrastructure companies, has just sold 389 acres of land in Port Dickson to Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, a Google affiliate company, for RM455.23 million. The land, which was bought by Gamuda back in December 2024, will be used as a major data centre project.

Despite handing the land to the Google affiliate company, The Edge Malaysia reports that Gamuda will still be actively involved in the development of the site, worth RM1.1 billion, undertaking enabling works, which include external infrastructure and earthworks. The development includes a new water treatment plant and an off-river storage facility to ensure a steady water supply during the dry season and to reduce pollution risks.

The support of the infrastructure and engineering company’s expertise will not only speed up construction with precision manufacturing but also reduce risks and ensure quality and cost control, making Gamuda Bhd a key partner in the growing sector of the digital economy. The land sale is expected to be finalised by the end of 2025 once all conditions are met.
