While some are still celebrating the holidays with their loved ones, others are mourning for their loss. Yesterday (Tuesday, 26th December), it was reported that Hong Kong actress Bonnie Lai Suk-Yin (黎淑贤) has passed away at 46 years old. Her death is currently suspected to be suicide.
According to several Hong Kong reports, the actress was found unconscious by one of her 4 sons at their Park Belvedere residence in North Point. It was said that she took her own life by allegedly burning charcoal in her room, possibly suffocated in the process.
The “Young and Dangerous 3” star was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital to receive medical treatment. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead upon arrival. Her ex-husband, Hong Kong action actor Kenneth Low Wai-Kong aka Ken Lo (盧惠光), confirmed the tragic news of her passing.
According to Oriental News Daily, police did not find a suicide note at the scene so the actual cause of her death is yet to be determined. However, it was suspected that the celeb took her own life because she had been battling with severe depression for 20 years and would regularly go for psychological treatment. She was last seen at a BBQ party on Christmas day where she appeared fine.
The following day, her current husband, Dr. Angus Hui, received a text message from his wife saying that they would meet again in the next life. He immediately rushed home, reported the case and sent her to the hospital after finding her unconscious in their bedroom. 2 weeks before her death, it was reported that Bonnie contacted her ex-husband and the two had a conversation about their sons. It was said that she sounded calm over the phone and did not appear to be in distress.
Fans flooded Bonnie’s latest Instagram post’s comments section expressing their disbelief and offering their condolences to her family. We too would like to offer our condolences to her loved ones and may they find the strength to go through this difficult time.
Bonnie is survived by Jackie Lo and Jovan Lo (from her previous marriage to Ken Lo) as well as Aston and Martinus (from her current marriage to Angus).
