Rayani Air just had its maiden flight back in December 2015 but already, there has been numerous complaints about the airline. As such, the Syariah-compliant airline may face suspension of operations if it fails to comply with airline regulations.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai commented on complaints from Rayani Air passengers and said that the ministry was closely monitoring the airline company following reports of flight delays and cancellations as well as handwritten boarding passes.

TRP quoted him as saying, “We will investigate if reports have been lodged with the ministry. We will look at the complaints such as cancelled flights which were not replaced. That is a serious matter. We can even suspend the airline’s services if they’re not following our order.”

Liow said that a warning has already been issued to Rayani Air following an incident where flights were cancelled without warning and no replacements were provided, adding that the Transport Ministry will take action against Rayani Air if it receives more complaints about the airline.

Rayani Air was granted the Air Service License (ASL) and Air Operator’s Certificate by the DCA Director-General Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman in Putrajaya on 18th December. When asked about how the airline managed to obtain the operating license, Liow said that as long as the company complied with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) regulations, they would be given the licence.
