While Chinese martial arts star Jet Li (李连杰) no longer appears in movies, fans can still get updates on his life via the actor’s social media. However, the star’s recent post sparked widespread concern after depicting him in a hospital bed.
Over the weekend, the actor shared a photo of himself lying on a hospital bed. In the captions, Jet Li wrote, “I’ve just been through another trial of life’s impermanence,” hinting at a health scare. However, the 62-year-old never disclosed why he was at the hospital, prompting fans to voice their concern. Thankfully, a source close to the star revealed that the actor is not in serious condition and that the hospitalisation is for a simple treatment.

After his first post, Jet Li shared another photo from the hospital, this time of him being wheeled into an operating room. While the “Mulan” actor didn’t show his face, he snuck a peace sign to the camera, implying that there’s nothing to worry about. In the captions, the public figure wrote, “There is a problem with the hardware, so I need to return it to the factory for repair,” seemingly joking about his situation.
The star also thanked fans for their concern, assuring that he’s doing well. Netizens have extended their well-wishes to the actor for a smooth and quick recovery from his surgery. Unfortunately, the second post also failed to answer the question of why Jet Li was in the hospital in the first place. However, Jet Li has had his fair share of health issues, some of which have affected his career.

In 2013, the actor revealed that he had been suffering from hyperthyroidism, a condition that can cause fatigue, weight loss and heart complications. By then, Jet Li had been suffering from the condition for a few years. In 2016, the martial artist said he had recovered from his illness, but since then, he has cut down on his acting projects and now maintains a “semi-retired” life. Instead of movies, Jet Li has now shifted his focus to creating short videos on Douyin.
Whatever the reason may be, we hope Jet Li is recovering well from his surgery. While he’s not obligated to, we also hope that the star would come clean about his health to give fans peace of mind.
