#PetFiestaExpo: Video Of Trainer Kicking Another Participant’s Dog Enrages Pet Lovers

Over the weekend, a clip of a dog trainer kicking another participant’s dog during the Pet Fiesta Expo at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam surfaced.

First uploaded on Facebook, the minute-and-a-half long video shows a group of trainers standing in line by their dogs in what looks like the obedience part of the pet show.

Among the canines standing in a row are a black and white Border Collie (herd dog) and a black and tan German Shepherd (typical K9/guard dog). The trainers are then ordered to walk away from their dogs, leaving their dogs sitting in their original positions.

However, as soon as the trainers are gone, the Border Collie and the German Shepherd immediately get into a fight. The German Shepherd’s trainer is then seen rushing up to them to break up the fight, pulling his dog away while kicking the Border Collie a few times. A few seconds later, the Border Collie’s trainer picks up his dog and carries it away.

The audience’s comments of shock and disapproval can be heard in the background of the video.

As at time of writing, the original video has been viewed over 118,000 times and shared over 1.7k times n Facebook since it was uploaded on 15th April 2017 (Saturday). Facebook has even flagged the video with a viewer’s discretion warning.

It didn’t take long for netizens to dig up information about the German Shepherd trainer, one Lee Kong Hoong from the Eagleland K9 training school in Ipoh, Perak.

“This man’s job is associated with animals (pets) yet he cannot control his emotion and action. Perhaps he should re-consider changing his job now,” commented one Facebook user. “I swear if i was there I would have slapped the f*cking shit out of him! Bloody b*stard. What I don’t understand is why no one did anything about it. They should have asked him to leave the competition immediately. This is pure BS,” said another.

Lee Kong Hoong, whose dog was disqualified from the obedience event, has since responded with his take on what happened, explaining that he was only defending his dog.

The Star Online quoted him as saying, “Say a dog is going to attack your daughter or son, what are you going to do? Say someone else’s dog was about to attack your child, your baby that you’re holding. This is the same thing.”

“If a dog is abused, it will run away. But this dog didn’t want to run. It kept coming back, it was trying to attack. Why did he (the other dog’s trainer) not try to help stop the fight? Why was it only me who tried?” Lee Kong Hoong added.

What do you guys think of the above situation? Would you have handled it different if it were you?
