Dear local Muslims, Malay rights group Perkasa is asking you to boycott companies that are allies to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

The pro-LGBT firms in question are popular coffee chain Starbucks and tech giant Microsoft. This comes shortly after several Muslim in Indonesia made the same protest.

“Perkasa urges Muslims in this country to boycott Starbucks because this United States-based international coffee chain supports LGBT and same-sex marriage,” the group’s Islamic affairs bureau chief, Amini Amir Abdullah, was quoted as saying.

Yesterday (Sunday, 2nd July), Amini Amir also suggests that the government should not allow these pro-LGBT companies (including Microsoft) to continue carrying on their business in Malaysia. The reason being? The LGBT lifestyle “violates the pillars of Islam, the federal constitution, and the Rukunegara”.

“(Their business license should be revoked) because they support homosexual marriages and the LGBT community, which is against our country’s aspirations and the national agenda,” Amini Amir said in a statement.

“Perkasa believes that the LGBT not only goes against Islam, but it is also against the order of nature. LGBT has also never been acknowledged by the Muslim majority in this country and abroad. There has never been a fatwa in 1,438 years that allowed LGBT practices,” he added.

Take a look at other major companies that have openly support LGBT:
