Just a couple of years back, we saw the opening of Pavilion Bukit Jalil (also known as Pavilion 2) – and in a couple of months, another Pavilion Mall will be opening its doors. After some delay, Pavilion Damansara Heights Mall finally announced an official launch date – but is it for real this time?
Back in July, an Instagram page affiliated with the mall announced an opening date of 8th October 2023. The rumours recently recirculated after the Malaysia Shopping Mall Facebook page shared a recent image of the mall site. On the outside of the building were banners that read “Mall Opening 8 October 2023”, and a further check on Pavilion Damansara Heights’ official website confirms the rumours that the mall will open in the first week of October.
Last November, Pavilion Damansara Heights revealed their plans to open Phase 1 of the mall in May 2023 and Phase 2 to follow soon after, but the opening date got pushed back. According to Datuk Joyce Yap, the CEO (Retail) of Kuala Lumpur Pavilion Sdn Bhd, the mall already has over 70% of its retail space committed by tenants and will feature over 300 outlets.
Netizens have reacted to the news of the mall’s opening date, but many were still sceptical that the mall will be able to stick to the plan this time. Some say that judging from recent images, the mall looks far from completion, leading them to believe it will postpone its opening date again. One netizen even said an opening date in the first quarter of 2024 seemed more likely.
Only time will tell if the mall opens its doors in time – but we are excited to see what new stores Pavilion Damansara Heights will bring.
