Online Resellers Are Reselling The PS5 For More Than RM100K

Even though the Sony PlayStation 5 is set to release next month in Malaysia, it has already been released in the United States last Thursday (12th November).

As online stocks for the PS5 sold out within minutes, people are finding it hard to find the PS5 in stock anywhere and online resellers are not doing the prices any justice.

With Covid-19 booming the demand for gaming consoles, online resellers are taking the opportunity to resell the new consoles for overly marked-up prices. As of now, a quick search on eBay will show you countless listings of the PS5 with prices of up to $15,000 (RM61,755).

You’ll be surprised to know that most of the PS5 listed on the site is asking for well over $1,000 (RM4,117), which is way higher than the retail price for the PS5 Digital Edition and the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive, priced at $399 (RM1,642) and $499 (RM2,054) respectively. Earlier, one Twitter user went on the e-commerce site on 14th November and was shocked to see that the console was listed up for $25,000 (RM102,922).

Things are no different in Malaysia as the console was sold out almost immediately upon the opening for pre-sale orders in Malaysia. Until now, the PS5 is currently listed as sold out in the Sony Store Malaysia website.

According to Malay Mail, resellers who managed to secure the console took to local sites to sell the console for RM3,999, which is almost double the original price. However, the situation is actually worse than reported as local resellers are advertising it for up to RM8,000 for the pre-ordered consoles.

If you didn’t get to secure a unit, you can probably try your luck by waiting for the PS5 to officially release in Malaysia on 11th December 2020 and get it for retail price.
