Guess this riddle! Which fruit is small and juicy, sweet but mighty, brightly-coloured and also crunchy? If you guessed it right, good job! It’s cherry—the luscious and inviting fruit, that attracts anyone who sets their eye on it!

The ‘Diamond of Fruit’ is strutting it’s way to comfort our craving souls following the ‘Cherish the Moments’ campaign launched by Northwest Cherry Growers, aiming to encourage the public to cherish their moments with their family and friends while munching on the delicious, flavourful fruit.

Rich in potassium and Vitamin C, the fat and sodium-free cherries possess high nutritional value and antioxidants which is the cancer-preventing anthocyanins. Aside from reducing the risks of several chronic inflammatory diseases, cherries are also low in glycemic. Fun fact! Being the nature’s only source of melatonin,—a naturally-produced hormone from mammals—cherries have the ability to regulate your sleep!

“There is no denying that the Northwest Cherries are of high-quality and hold great value due to its limited availability. Given the weather complications of snow during spring this year, the early growing regions were impacted thus resulting in a lower volume of cherries than usual. However, the good news is that the quality of cherries has been one of the best in years,” stated Ms Retna Malar.

The market representative for Northwest Cherries in Malaysia also reassured that apart from being larger in size, the cherries are sweeter, juicier, more succulent and crunchier than ever before. Within 48 hours, the cherries are shipped to destinations all around the world right off the trees! All thanks to their state-of-the-art machinery which can separate the poor quality cherries from the high-quality ones in lightning speed.

The process to produce the irresistible fruits takes about a year long, starting from winter as they grow into clusters and ready for harvest once summer hits. Due to the sensitivity of the fruit, temperature is significant in maintaining the freshness of the fruits. To put it simply, the process involves preventing the heat from affecting the cherries by harvesting them early in the morning and dousing them in cold baths.

As Malaysia’s favourites, Northwest Cherries can be paired up with various other ingredients for a delectable combination of flavours such as cinnamon, almonds, cream, quark, yogurt and mild cheeses. So, if you want to enjoy every meal of the day with the the best seasonal fruit there is then, don’t miss out on the opportunity-of-a-lifetime and get them before it’s too late!

Northwest Cherries are available in supermarkets and retailers such as AEON, Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, Ben’s Independent Grocers, Cold Storage, Mercato, Lotuss, Giant, Aeon Big, TF Value-Mart and NSK. They’re also sold at night markets in Malaysia, labelled as USA or Washington Cherries or purchased online via Lazada, Shopee and Hantar Fresh.
