New ‘Skin Streaming’ Fad Takes Skinimalism Up A Notch

When it comes to the world of beauty on TikTok, skincare routines are getting more complex and lengthier by the day.

Oh, the serums, creams and moisturizers! There are innumerable skincare products being featured on the platform, and it makes us dizzy trying to figure out what suits us best. Some TikTokers maintain that a multi-step skincare regimen is essential. Others, though, say it’s intimidating trying to decide what to buy and how to use it. It can be challenging to choose what would work best for you given the many trends and opinions that are now circulating on Tiktok – and the beauty industry in general. However, there is ONE trend that might help you figure it all out.

Sephora Australia

Say hello to “skin-streaming,” a brand-new method of skincare designed with the serious minimalist in mind. And while it does take some practice to find your footing with it at first, the payoff is gorgeous, well-loved skin along with time and money savings. Simply said, skin-streaming is simplifying one’s skincare regimen by using only a select few, exceptionally-good products consistently. Additionally, it involves eliminating the parts of one’s routine that don’t have a significant influence.

Awareness of ingredients: Being extremely conscious of the components you’re using on your skin is one of the biggest advantages of skin-streaming, since it makes it much easier to identify the culprit if you do experience an allergic response to one of them, or if one causes an outbreak.

Better absorption: Skin-streaming also has the potential to improve the absorption of active compounds by your skin. The effects of your routine may be more consistent if you choose to skin stream because your skin may be more able to absorb active components.

Save money: Skin-streaming is not only beneficial for your skin, but it will also end up saving you a tonne of cash over time. You may relax knowing your skin (and money) are protected rather than feeling pressured to purchase the newest viral product.

Factors To Consider

Contrary to many other beauty fads, skin-streaming doesn’t call for the use of a particular skincare product; rather, it only aims to cut down on the quantity of products in one’s cosmetic cabinet in order to produce an effective and quicker beauty regimen.

This results in a highly-customized routine for every skin type, but it also means that the routine should only have a few steps – four, at the most. This necessitates focusing on the necessities, such as a facial cleanser, scrub, moisturizer, and a more focused treatment, such as an anti-aging serum or an anti-blemish serum. Here are some important factors to consider:

Basic Is Better

Going back to the fundamentals is the main goal of skin-streaming. This entails throwing away any serums, gels, creams, lotions, and other cosmetics that your skin doesn’t actually need. There are so many products available that it can be confusing and daunting to know which ones are actually important. The simplest way to handle this situation is to take a look at your makeup drawer or bathroom counter and remove any item you don’t routinely use or don’t find to be useful. Think on your true skincare requirements. As a general rule, consider the products you require to moisturise your skin, cleanse your face, and treat any acne or other skin disorder you may be experiencing.

Cut Back On The Steps

Your skin, your body, and your uniqueness are all important factors in developing a skin-streaming routine. Think about what your skin needs before you start constructing your ideal skin-streaming lineup. Determine whether your skin is typically dry, oily, or combo, and whether your skincare requirements change with the seasons or even the time of day. Consider the cleanser that will best remove grime from your skin. The same idea applies when combining items like sunscreen and moisturizer.

Keep It Budget-friendly

Hey, most of us just get our skincare products from local drugstores like Watsons and Guardian, and they work just great!

We know the urge to purchase a branded product, thinking that’ll it’ll work wonders. But you also need to understand that those products don’t necessarily work for everyone. Sometimes, sticking to local brands with lower prices does the trick. It’s no secret that skincare products, particularly well-liked serums and goods supported by celebrities or influencers, can come with hefty price tags that are out of reach for the majority of consumers. But skinimalism’s fundamental tenet is to avoid taking on unnecessary debt or spending money you don’t have. As a result, you should only buy things that you can afford.

Here’s a simple step you can take to start things off:

Cleanser – Start your routine with a mild cleanser. If you stick with something gentle, you can incorporate more active products in other aspects of your regimen. Use the cleanser both morning and night, especially if you have worn makeup.

Moisturizer – Whatever regimen you practice, moisturizing is a must. What’s the point of applying so many products if your skin is lacking in moisture? Also, given the heat these days, it’s not only important to stay hydrated by drinking water, but using a good product to keep your skin moist and hydrated.

Sunscreen – Sunscreen is necessary during the day, sun or no sun. Apply sunscreen as your final morning step to seal everything in. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin. Additionally, if you’re going to be outside all day, make sure to reapply sunscreen every two hours. Don’t let the sun ruin the repairs you’ve made.

Serum – The two greatest serums on the market are vitamin C or hyaluronic acid, but regardless of which serum you use for your skin type, don’t chuck it. Serums are an essential component of any skincare regimen. You can use retinol in your evening routine to promote collagen formation and speed up cellular turnover, which will result in younger-looking, smoother, and more even-toned skin.

Overall, we think skin-streaming is a trend worth trying. You can save time and money by cutting out items that might not genuinely benefit your skin and also, achieve a shinier, more even complexion as a result. Skin-streaming doesn’t inherently have any drawbacks, but it is still advisable to speak with your dermatologist before beginning, especially if you are currently treating any skin disorders.
