New Covid-19 Cases From Sungai Buloh, Ara Damansara & SMK Taman Sea

The number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia are currently rising very rapidly. 691 new cases were reported just yesterday (6th October), making these numbers the highest ever recorded since the virus was first detected in January.

It has now been reported that an additional 489 individuals tested positive for the deadly virus today (7th October). Among the new recent cases are located at Sungai Buloh, Ara Damansara and SMK Taman S.E.A.

1. Agrobank, Sungai Buloh

Agrobank released a statement on its website confirming that an employee from their Sungai Buloh branch has tested positive for Covid-19. According to the statement, the infected employee is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital. The bank also assured that detailed contact tracing has been carried out to identify and inform those who came into direct contact with the said employee.

The bank’s employees and all other individuals affected will be on self-quarantine for the next 14 days, while their health conditions will be monitored. The bank will be temporarily closed from 7th October until further notice, in order to facilitate thorough cleaning and sanitisation activities in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.

The statement concluded reading, “Rest assured that Agrobank has taken all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its customers, employees and the community.”

2. Sime Darby Property, Ara Damansara

An employee from the Sime Darby Property headquarters in Ara Damansara had tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday (6th October). According to a statement released on their Facebook page, the employee was last present at the Sime Darby headquarters on 2nd October (Friday), and is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital.

The statement also informed that cleaning and disinfection of their headquarters and the affected areas will be carried out, in line with government regulations and standards. The Sime Darby management also notified that their headquarters will be closed until further notice.

“Business will continue as usual, and our sales galleries and other offices will remain open unless stated otherwise,” read the statement.

3. SMK Taman S.E.A, Petaling Jaya

According to The Sun Daily, a staff member teaching at SMK Taman S.E.A has tested positive for Covid-19. The affected teacher contracted the virus after coming into close contact with another infected individual.

Both the teacher and infected individual had tested positive for the virus on 5th October. The teacher is reported to have last visited the school’s premises on 30th September. The close contact of the teacher had been first infected by an individual from Sabah, according to Free Malaysia Today. Both the teacher and the close contact had tested positive in Kelantan.

The school has not released an official statement as of yet. However, teachers and students of the school have been asked to self-quarantine, while the infected teacher is reported to have been on self-quarantine since 30th September.
