Tom Felton, belovedly known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” franchise, has always been surrounded by the series, making small comebacks and cameos here and there for the adoring fans. Once in and while, fans will receive a remake or spin-off of the books, but this time, we might just be getting an original cast member in a reprise.
With a 14-year gap since his debut in the “Harry Potter” series, Tom Felton is set to reprise his role in his Broadway debut of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” stage show. Starting from 11th November 2025 for a 19-week run, the stage show is set 19 years after the original series, which follows the story of Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy.
Playing from 11th November 2025 to 22nd March 2026 at the Lyric Theatre in New York City, Tom’s reprise as Draco Malfoy marks the first time a member of the “Harry Potter” film cast has joined the stage production. “Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play”, comments the actor, who is now 37 years old, in a statement.
Netizens provide mixed reactions towards the news, with some protecting Tom’s stance in his recurring role in the “Harry Potter” franchise, with Twitter user @/onyxicca commenting, “Why do people treat passion like it’s a pathology? He (Tom Felton) doesn’t need to ‘move on”. He’s just not ashamed to love what shaped him”. While some fans rejoice at his return to the Wizarding World, most fans aren’t too happy about his affiliation with J.K. Rowling.

Instagram user @/abbyrbryan commented, “During Pride month? After J.K. Rowling talked about giving her money to anti-trans organisations? Knowing she gets money from this production? I’m disappointed“, noting on the author’s legal fighting fund for cis-women protecting their sex-based rights, which deepens her financial commitment to anti-transgender legislation. In recent years, the “Harry Potter” author has been caught up in controversy regarding her views on the transgender movement and often has come out as going against it.
