People would usually avoid dining at shopping centres when trying to save money, as the food there tends to be a bit pricier. However, with all the viral street food nowadays, netizens have noticed that there have been some changes in the price difference between food at malls and food at the night market.
Recently, a Twitter user who goes by @/sara_nikka posted a photo of packed meals sold at an AEON Mall. The netizen pointed out that the packed rice meals cost as little as RM3.90, while burgers cost around RM5. The post has since sparked debate among netizens.

After @/sara_nikka’s post went viral, netizens began discussing how the packed food at AEON is now much cheaper than street food. Some were astonished by the discovery, saying the world has turned upside down, now that people would have to resort to going to shopping centres rather than night markets for affordable food.
University students also chimed in on the discussion, saying that due to the low prices, they’d always drop by AEON to buy the packed meals for lunch and dinner in order to save money. Some even claimed that these dishes sold at AEON cost almost the same as those at establishments in Japan.

There were also those who shared tips on how to get these packed meals at an even cheaper price. According to some users, customers can enjoy a 20% discount when they buy these meals at 7 pm and 50% at 8 pm. Best of all, customers can use the microwave provided at the food court and enjoy their meal right then and there.
What are your thoughts on this? Were you surprised by the price difference?
