The ageing process is a normal thing that everyone will inevitably go through in their lifetime. Once smooth skin will eventually wrinkle from age, and embracing the change could possibly be the only way to age with grace.
In the efforts to embrace her age, Canadian actress and model Pamela Anderson, who was once dubbed one of the hottest women in the 90s, has seen major backlash over her Met Gala look, with people pointing out that she simply looks unrecognisable. The 57-year-old actress donned an icy blue Tory Burch gown with her signature no-makeup look at the fashion event yesterday (6th May 2025).

In recent years, the actress has embraced her age with a full glam-down transformation. She has reportedly removed all fillers, Botox, and implants, and now regularly opts for a no-makeup look on the red carpet. She told reporters that Botox caused her eyebrows to droop and made her look like a completely different person. Anderson also states in an interview with Grazia in 2024 that her no-makeup look pays a tribute to the passing of her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, “She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup”.
In a feature with Vanity Fair discussing her 2025 Met Gala looks, Anderson said: “I’ve learned that I’m okay just the way I am, and I’ll present myself the way I want to—without pressure—and I don’t worry whether everybody’s going to like it.” Despite her firm stance on embracing her natural self, some have said the change has made her unrecognisable. However, fans seemed to disagree.

Many have flocked with supportive comments after a post on Twitter by user @/ShadowofEzra called out the model for her looks. Twitter user @/manydowndays commented, “And this is why women feel insecure about ageing. How about shut up and let women live?”. @/CreativeSam2also quipped with their own support with, “I’ve never admired her more. She is being herself and rejecting the conditions of worth imposed by society upon women. We owe you nothing”.
This proves to be an eye-opener for the harsh realities of the process of embracing the process of ageing. What do you think of Pamela Anderson’s route to embracing her skin?
