Woman Experience Near Death Episode At MRR2 Cheras

by Justin
September 19, 2020

There are at least 2 things Cheras is notorious for: its never ending traffic jam and construction work.

Earlier today (Saturday, 19th September), a woman driving along MRR2 almost lost her life when the one square metre-sized piece of concrete fell on her silver Proton Waja. The incident occurred around 4:30pm this evening near Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).

The scary incident was posted on Aurizn Malaysia’s Facebook page with the caption: “Seriously, the crazy constructions that are on going around KL must be closely scrutinised! Either finish it quickly or divert traffic away! The ministers should be put to task and questioned on these! We’re lucky the lady escaped with injuries but can you imagine driving underneath these subpar quality constructions day in and out? We demand answers!”

As aforementioned, thankfully the female driver made it out alive. The top half of the silver Waja was severely crushed. The woman was brought to the side of the road where several passerby got down to check on her as well as to offer help. She was sent to Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) to seek immediate treatment.

Some of the verbatim comments on the post reads:

  • “Hope the people inside the car is ok. After recover from trauma, sue the hell on the construction company!”
  • “That’s the reason why I want to avoid the construction site especially my house area in Cheras where they construct a 2-level bridge in Alam Damai. I hope the Saga driver ok if not gonna sue the developer.”
  • “Thank god the driver is safe… What the heck is wrong with the supervising of such undergoing construction??? No more pushing away the responsibilities this time, as there are many areas in the entire Malaysia are having such incident happening!!!“
  • “The driver escaped with injuries and their life, thankfully. I hope there weren’t any passengers.”
  • “I feel like contractors themselves also don’t train their workers and observe them vigilantly. It’s obvious there’s negligence in care somewhere in the management as well. I still remember a similar incident that happened near CGC building near Glenmarie LRT Station when it was still being built.”
  • “What kind of stupid design, I see this so often on overhead roads – the side barrier is attached to the SIDE of the concrete platform and not ON the concrete platform. Of course it’s going to start falling in due course.”

Many have urged the victim to file a lawsuit against the developer and get compensated. It was reported that the concrete was of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) construction.
