The constant search of finding a tool to make our lives easier have always been the motivating factor for new inventions. To the general public, these inventions might leave them in awe due to their efficiency in getting the job done but sometimes, with thorough scientific research, you might be surprised to know that these inventions are harmful, in fact.
The same goes to Nano Mist Sprays. These sprays were used for the goal of sanitising humans who enter premises or restaurants. Due to its heavy usage, the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah decided to speak up against it, highlighting the dangers posed by this spray.

Disinfectant Type Used & It’s Concentration
Dr Noor Hisham said currently, several surface disinfectants had been identified to be effective against SARS-CoV-2 such as alcohol 70% to 90%, hydrogen peroxide, thymol, quaternary ammonia and chlorine-based solution. The list of recommended surface disinfectants against SARS-CoV-2 is available on the US Environmental Protection Agency website https://www.epa.gov/coronavirus/about-list-n-disinfectants-coronavirus-covid19-0, which is an international reference for disinfectants.
Method Of Usage
According to The Star, experts had raised concerns over how these gadgets were being used. While some shops are using them to spray sanitiser on objects to prevent Covid-19 infection, many are also using them on visitors, customers and even themselves. Universiti Sains Malaysia virologist Dr Kumitaa Theva Das said while the mist or dry fog that these guns emitted was good for covering large surface areas, it is a bad idea to aim it at people. Further adding on, she said that if not used properly, the chemicals in the spray can be potentially hazardous.
From the list of explanation above, it’s to no doubt a safer choice to just used regular hand sanitisers that have a higher alcohol content which would provide with a better protection against Covid-19.
Devices such as nano mist sprays might seem appealing to buy but please consult the health experts prior to buying it. It might put your life in danger too.
