Namewee’s (黃明志) drug-related charges continued with another court date earlier today (Monday, 19th January 2026). However, as per his previous mention, the Malaysian singer pleads not guilty to drug possession charges.
Earlier today, Namewee appeared before the magistrate’s court to answer two separate charges involving the possession of controlled substances. The singer, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, pleaded not guilty when both charges were read before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim.

Prosecutors alleged that the 43-year-old had 0.78g of sildenafil in his possession during a hotel raid at a hotel near Jalan Conlay on 22nd October 2025. Sildenafil is used to increase blood flow to the penis and improve erectile function. The drug is regulated under the Poisons Act and requires a valid prescription.
The offence is framed under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act, which allows for a jail term of up to five years, a fine of up to RM50,000 or both. Namewee also claimed a trial to an amended charge accusing him of possessing 1.57g of methamphetamine. The second charge falls under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Following his not guilty plea, the court fixed 5th March 2026 for mention. Namewee would later speak up about the case, sharing a post on Facebook. In the post, the singer expressed cynicism at the charges, seemingly restating his innocence. Fans have also reacted to the news, sharing supportive words for the star.
Previously, the magistrate’s court discharged and acquitted Namewee of administering drugs into his body after the pathology results came back negative. For now, we’ll have to wait until March for a new update on the case. What are your thoughts on this?
