After a massive 2014, DJ Snake is wrapping up the year with a bang. The French superstar DJ/Producer has released his music video for his single with AlunaGeorge, “You Know You Like It.” The music video for “You Know You Like It” has to follow in the giant footsteps of DJ Snake’s “Turn Down For What” music video, which was nominated for MTV Video Music Awards for Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and the MTV Clubland Award.
“Turn Down For What” gave DJ Snake a reputation as a producer of up-tempo, heart racing trap music. This reputation was further solidified with his 2014 collaboration with Dillion Francis, “Get Low“. However, DJ Snake proves that he is more than just an up-tempo, heart racing trap music producer. His collaboration with AlunaGeorge on “You Know You Like It” shows a different side of DJ Snake as well as his versatility as a producer.
The music video for the tracks highlights DJ Snake’s desire to go in a different direction from his previous hits. The video shows an ape living a normal life in a world of human. In the video, the ape sees his life unravel due to his tortured history with a girl. He turns to drugs and strip clubs to cope, even leaning towards committing acts of violence.
The video for “You Know You Like It” is a dark take on the single, with serious implications about the dangerous consequences of destructive relationships. Though nothing like the entertaining videos for “Turn Down For What” and “Get Low”, the video for “You Know You Like It” is entertaining in its own dark way.
