Local house music trio Imma *Bleep* YouUp made up of Mr. Fluff, Addic3rd and Unkel Jaymz also known as Bo Amir Iqram, Kelvin Lam and James Lee, was formed in late 2010 and are known for their ability to tear the roof up with good vibes and tunes infused with comical antics. Dubbed the wildest trio of Malaysia, Imma *Bleep* YouUp became an overnight sensation on soundcloud.com with their remixes of cartoon theme songs including the Angry Bird theme song — Fat Angry Birds.

Inspired and influenced by DJs such as Swedish House Mafia, Dada Life, Swanky Tunes, Gregori Klosman, Tommy Trash, Avicii, Alesso and more, Imma *Bleep* YouUp’s big room sound and energy as well as comical antics on stage is a constant reminder of what fun is all about.

Bringing the fun wherever we talked to the boys of Imma *Bleep* YouUp who recently performed at one of the biggest party to date, H-Artistry Penang. Find out what we talked about here:

Q: You’ve been in the music industry for a while now, how would you say things have changed from when you first started?

When we first started, the music scene was not as accepting of dance music as it is now, though pop music was already applying the 4×4 beats at the time. With the kind of music we play, it was harder to get jobs in the beginning because people wanted more commercialised DJs. It’s still somewhat the same now but it’s changed in the sense that people nowadays are more open and more receptive to the kind of music we play.

Q: What makes Imma *Bleep* YouUp stand out as compared to other DJs?

We are pretty much just like every other man. We don’t dress fancily or anything like that. We are ourselves when we play because we believe that the most important thing is for us to have fun ourselves before our audience can. When we are having fun, our audiences are having fun. That’s how it works.

Q: What are some of the crazy things that you guys have done while performing?

Oh one too many. Bo crowd surfs, in a club by the way. He has jumped off a stage, jumped into a pool. We do a lot cray things.

Q: Are there any upcoming plans for Imma *Bleep* YouUp in the rest of 2014?

Well for starters we are going to be releasing a bunch of stuff with several international labels this year. We are not going to mention which label so you will just have to wait and when our materials are out, you’ll go “OMG these guys are Malaysians!!!” Haha!

Q: Where does Imma *Bleep* YouUp see themselves in five years?

In Los Angeles next to Swedish House Mafia’s house. We’ll probably be outside screaming “LET US IN!!” Haha. Or it will probably be like “Imma *Bleep* YouUp broke Swedish House Mafia’s record and sold out Madison Square Garden in 2 seconds!” Haha.

Q: Where do you get your inspirations for your set/sounds?

Our inspirations have grown from when we first started. We used to be heavily influenced by Swedish House Mafia, we still are but now there’s also a lot of Diplo, Knife Party and a whole lot more.

Q: Apart from dance music, what other genres do you guys listen to?

All sorts really — from heavy metal to jazz to hip hop. It depends on where we are and at what time.

Thanks guys! 🙂
