“Mum and Dad have decided to call it a day and retire.” If you’re someone who frequents Mum’s Place – which is located in Damansara Perdana – we’ve got some sad news to convey.
Yesterday (Monday, 20th September), the beloved Petaling Jaya restaurant who is known for serving a plethora of Malaysian cuisine, announced their closure after being in the business for the past 20 years.
In their goodbye message, husband and wife pair Christopher De Mello and Jennifer Tee shared that they’re preparing to move to Perth, Australia to reunite with their daughters there. It’s understood that they’ll be embracing their roles as grandparents and will likely be occupied with babysitting duties for the newborn.
However, there are still 2-3 months left before Mum’s Place officially closes in December. Until then, you can still order your favourite dishes from the menu, which has an eclectic mix of Malay, Portuguese, Chinese, Indian, as well as Nyonya delicacies.
Some of their signature dishes include the Cencaru Fish with Chilli Padi Paste and Petai, Lemak Kuning Jenahak Fish or Assam Pedas Parit Jawa, Prawns Sambal Petai, Portuguese Devil Chicken Curry, Fried Jenahak Fish with Mum’s Belacan, Pan-fried Large Butter Garlic Tiger Prawns, and many more.
The owners are also looking to sell selected recipes from Mum’s Place and its business.
