MUJI Opens First Malaysian Outlet

MUJI (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was established last year as 100%-owned subsidiary under MUJI (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. After surveying the success of opening the MUJI store at ION Orchard, Singapore, in 2009, a flood of enquiries from landlords (especially Malaysia) came flooding into the company’s “mailbox” all for one reason and one reason only – to open more outlets.

Several markets/locations in the South East Asian region, including Malaysia, were quietly visited for “water testing”. By nature of their products, they wanted to be specific about catering to the lifestyle of city urban dwellers.

So it was all thanks to the fact that Kuala Lumpur embodies everything that is “the city urban lifestyle”, the plan was set and the deal was on. MUJI was to open in mid April 2012 in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The time came bright and early on the 14th of April 2012 (Saturday). A throng of honorable and esteemed guests, members of the press and the media made a mad dash to Malaysia’s premier mall in the heart of the city to witness the memorable event.

That would be us. Yup!:

Although the size of the first MUJI Malaysia store is a tad smaller than we had expected, it doesn’t change the fact that we were amazed completely enthralled by their array of products. Items ever-so-colourful yet versatile, on top of being made from quality materials. Love!

Also, we were silently rejoicing the fact that we don’t have to travel all the way to Singapore anymore to get the MUJI thingamajigs we need.
