Many content creators show off a luxurious lifestyle on social media, leading the viewers to wonder if the things they show on camera belong to them or are just a front for the views.

A local property agent, Ishaq Marazi, recently made waves online when he tried to expose a YouTuber for allegedly faking a wealthy life for content. The agent claims that the YouTuber made a house tour video to show his new RM9.7 million bungalow, but, in reality, the bungalow was merely a rental. The Facebook post alleges that the YouTuber fabricated the whole thing for content. However, in addition to claiming that the YouTuber lied about owning the bungalow, Ishaq also alleged that the creator promotes gambling.

Based on the photos Ishaq shared, many netizens quickly discovered the identity of the YouTuber to be Isa Isarb, a 25-year-old with more than 2.5 million subscribers on the video-sharing platform. Following the backlash, the YouTuber went on social media to clarify the rumours. According to Isa, the bungalow is indeed a rental – but he does intend to buy the property and is in the process of doing so. However, as the buying process would take a long time, he decided to rent the place to allow him to live on the property.

Isa also added that despite merely renting the bungalow, he still pays a lot for rent and other expenses. He broke down each cost, explaining that rent is RM20,000, home maintenance cost is around RM10,000 and electricity bills can go as high as RM15,000 per month. He said that if he could afford to fork out RM45,000 per month, he would have no issues paying the property’s monthly payment of RM35,000.

In the video, Isa said that the property agent was in the wrong for making false claims about the YouTuber’s personal life and that the Facebook post was slander. He also slams the agent, questioning why it concerns him whether the social media star rents or buys the house.

It’s good that Isa Isarb clarified the issue, and we hope Ishaq will be more cautious when making bold claims online. What do you think about this issue?
