Provocations from one or both parties can lead to some serious physical altercations. This latest incident, however, may be a case of “he said, she said” cause no one is entirely sure who to believe.

Earlier this week, a woman posted on Facebook to ask for help to identify a Singaporean man who allegedly attacked her and her family at a mall in Johor Bahru. “If anyone knows who this is, message me privately and report to the police!” she wrote. According to the post, the altercation took place in Aeon Tebrau City Mall.

It was alleged that the man threatened to physically harm her family, including her sister, mother and baby. However, someone came forward online, claiming to be a friend of the alleged aggressor, saying that the incident was purely an accident and no such threats were made. He explained that his friend did not manage to apologise since he was being shouted at by the family who made the allegations.

His claims were backed up by a (now-deleted) video of the woman’s mother swinging a bag at the alleged attacker, smacking him in the process before he retreated. However, the original poster disputed that the video was maliciously edited to make it look like they were the attackers instead of the man saying that her mother was simply trying to protect her family.

According to a report by AsiaOne, the Singaporean man’s twin brother said that he wasn’t sure who started the fight but claimed that his brother was injured during the altercation. “My brother accidentally bumped into them, this was a misunderstanding. We have also notified the police. If they really were beaten, why would they be so free to post this on social media?” he added.

Apparently, after the original Facebook post went viral, the brothers were sent threats online, even from someone who alluded that they’d use a “30cm-long knife” to attack them. It was not specified if both parties had filed a police report, however, Johor Bahru District police confirmed that they did receive a report regarding the alleged incident.

Who do you believe in this story? Or were both parties wrong for accusing one another over something trivial?
